While a Walt Disney World vacation can fill a person with magical memories, there could also be some issues that arise throughout the day. So if you and your partner are looking for some alone time, or need some help throughout the day, there are a few options for Disney World childcare to help create a stress-free vacation.
There are many options for Disney babysitting services that guests may choose from. For example, there is in-room child care, hotel kids’ clubs, and even theme park nannies.
Does Walt Disney World Resort Offer Day Care Centers
Much like everything in the world, circumstances have changed since Covid-19. Before the pandemic, guests could choose from several options for actual daycare centers, like Lilo’s Playhouse at Polynesian Village resort or Simba‘s Clubhouse at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
However, after the pandemic, most of the kid-only activities that parents could book shut down. There are, however, a few outposts throughout the theme parks that offer air conditioning, a place to sit, and other amenities for parents of young children. These are known as Baby Care Centers, located at the front of the theme parks adjacent to the basic First Aid area.
Disney’s Baby Care Centers have changing tables and private nursing rooms, perfect for families with extremely young children. In addition to the privacy of the rooms, there are even a few unique offerings at different parks.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios has a unique opportunity for toddlers with potty training to use a pint-sized flushing toilet. As Magic Kingdom, the Baby Care Center is themed after Alice in Wonderland, with a full kitchen, rocking chairs, and even a spot to purchase baby items.
In-Room Babysitting, Kids’ Clubs, and Theme Park Nannies
If you are looking for a romantic dinner without kids or brunch at Wine Bar George in Disney Springs, there are a few options for someone to watch your children.
In-Room Babysitting
Walt Disney World does offer the program Kid’s Nite Out, which comes directly to your room with everything they could need to keep the children occupied for the evening. They will come with age-appropriate board games, toys, books, and Disney movies, and they will even complete arts and crafts. Kids Nite Out is a Disney World preferred child care provider and is the most well-known babysitting service, especially for in room babysitting.
This service requires advance reservations to be made at least two weeks in advance and can be made up to three months ahead of time. These reservations may start at 6:30 am and run until 11:00 pm. Times will vary based on special events, like the Disney Marathons or special parties. The rates for Kids Nite Out are as follows:
- $25 per hour for one child
- $28 per hour for two children
- $31 per hour for three children
- $34 per hour for four children
- $37 per hour for five or more children
- Ultimately, the more children you pay for, the more you will pay.
In addition, if the reservation starts before 7:59 am or after 8:59 pm, there will be an added $5 per hour premium. Furthermore, there is a one-time transportation fee of $12, regardless of when you book the reservation. Reservations may be made for children as young as six weeks up to 12 years old.
For families weary of who they leave their children with, which is most parents, the Kid’s Nite Out has stringent requirements for their workers. Each caregiver must be 18 years and older, pass reference and background checks, are first aid and child infant CPR certified. Finally, they all come with a background in childcare or education.
Camp Dolphin Disney World Kids’ Club
While many activity centers are closed at Walt Disney World Resort, Camp Dolphin at Disney World Swan & Dolphin hotel is open. From 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm, parents can put their kids in for a whole evening of fun or even a few hours. This option is not for all children, as they must fall within the five to twelve years old age range. Kids will enjoy activities of all kinds, even including a few video game options at Camp Dolphin. As far as rates go, this option will be cheap
- Camp Dolphin All Inclusive (4 pm to 11 pm) – $85 for the first child, $65 for each additional child
- Early Evening Camp Dolphin (4 pm to 8 pm) – $65 per child
- Late Evening Camp Dolphin (8 pm to 11 pm) – $50 per child
Theme Park Nanny & In-Park Assistance
For those looking to be with their children in the parks the entire time, Disney World does offer the option to have a theme park nanny. These nannies follow the family throughout the park instead of having the children stay in a specific area.
In addition to their assistance with the children, from pushing strollers to helping change diapers, the nannies are also great for Disney advice. The nannies can help with the children while ensuring your Disney vacation stays on track.
There are a few different options for hiring a theme park Nancy. The Kids Nite Out offers a Mother’s/Father’s Helper service. Other options include Theme Park Nannies and Once Upon a Nanny. Of course, each company offers different options, along with varying rates. Based on the company you chose, you may be required to pay for the theme park admission, transportation, dining, and more. Due to the differences, it is vital to research your chosen company to know how much you spend.
Disney World’s Kids-Only Activities
If you are looking for some unique experiences for your kids, along with the chance to have some alone time for the parents, there are a few options. One exciting opportunity is to “get a free ticket” for these activities. These activities are limited to potty trained guests between the ages of four and twelve. These activities are perfect for parents looking for a short break from their children while giving them a unique experience.
Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew
This activity is held nightly at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, coupled with a visit from Captain Hook. Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew will teach kids how to talk like a pirate, solve clues on a treasure hunt on Crescent Lake, and even eat some pasta! This activity costs $55 per child from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
Pirate Adventure Cruises
This activity is similar to Captain hook's pirate crew but is a slightly cheaper and shorter option. There are two separate kids' cruises – The islands of the Caribbean Pirate Cruise and the Albatross Treasure Cruise. The cruises run in the morning in the marinas of Caribbean Beach Resort and Yacht & Beach Club Resorts. No meal is involved, but the kids have a snack and drink. The rates range from $39 – $49 per child, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am every day.
Wonderland Tea Party – 1900 Park Fare
This is one of the most infamous kids' activities on Disney World property, located at Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The party is, of course, hosted by Alice and the Mad Hatter. Kids will enjoy an hour of fun-filled activities like cupcake decorating, craft time, photos with the hosts, and tea time (apple juice). The age limit is kids 3 to 10, and each kid must be potty trained.
Conclusion
While Disney is a family vacation, parents sometimes need a break from their kids or help throughout the parks. Thankfully, Walt Disney World has a few different options for Disney World childcare during your vacation. Guests could choose to have an in-room nanny for a relaxing night out, a theme park nanny for help throughout the parks, or simply a kids' activity for a unique experience.
