From the rides to the main attractions, the events, restaurants, character meet and greets, and more, Disney World is truly an all-inclusive resort. It would not be complete without a water park though. This is where Typhoon Lagoon takes your breath away as one of the two astounding water parks that Disney World has to offer. Enter the water park and let your worries float away for a few hours while you take in the many attractions that Typhoon Lagoon brings to the table.

Location
Typhoon Lagoon is right next to Disney Springs, which makes it a fairly easy area to get to even when the Parks are busy. Although several transportation systems are available throughout the day to take you over to the water park, the easiest way to swiftly transition your way over is by the Disney buses. All you have to do is head near the large bus stop next to the Town Center and wait for a bus to arrive (usually three pickups per hour).
Upon arriving on the bus, the destination will take about 15 minutes to get to, so relax for a few minutes before your kids are begging to hit the slides. Once you get in the water park itself, there are seven water slide rides, a lazy river, a wave pool, a trail, a kiddie slide, and a toddler area… plenty of options for everyone! Furthermore, there are also ten restaurants and snack stands, along with a store to bring home a souvenir for your little ones.
Difference Between Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach
While each has a completely different theme, with Blizzard Beach giving off a melting ski resort vibe and Typhoon Lagoon being a tropical paradise, the biggest difference concerning the rides/attractions is the wave pool. If you are looking for a more gentle approach to the wave pool for toddlers to enjoy, Blizzard Beach is your go-to water park. On the flip side, for older kids and adults, the Lagoon Surf Pool offers thrilling six-foot-tall waves that come along on occasion after the small waves are finished. Do not be surprised if you check the clock and realize you have spent a few hours in Lagoon’s Surf Pool, as I will tell you it is a blast every time around!
Miss Adventure Falls
You have not experienced Typhoon Lagoon if you have not gone on this family raft ride that is widely known as their best ride yet. Grab your group and board on your up-to-four-person tube as you voyage through Captain Mary Oceaneer’s vast artifact collection in this thrilling ride. It is quite fast-paced, so prepare yourself for a surefire rush of excitement as you twist and turn toward the bottom.
Crush ‘n’ Gusher
Another staple of the water park is Crush ‘n’ Gusher, where you go up and down, and in and out of dark tunnels with the option of three separate water-coaster slides. This ride is quite fast, so it surely is not for the faint of heart. It is the perfect ride if you have one other person with you but is not a family ride as all three slide options can only fit up to two people, with only one of them allowing a solo rider. I will admit I’ve been on this ride numerous times with the solo slide being my favorite!

Castaway Creek
If you know me personally, you will know that I am a lazy river connoisseur. Castaway Creek is the lazy river at Typhoon Lagoon, and it is by and large one of my favorite lazy rivers to bask in. I am more of a relaxer in the lazy river, as you should be, so it takes about twenty minutes to make my way around it in full. This gives my family time to finish up on their last rides while I take in the scenes along the river’s path. It doesn’t overwhelm you with crazy themes and characters, but the greenery along the river makes it a soothing ride throughout. It is something that I will always make time for when I am inside the water park for years to come.
Eateries + Beachcomber Shacks
Disney World never wants you to have to take more than ten steps without there being food in front of you… one of their smartest tactics. This includes Typhoon Lagoon, where there are three options to choose from depending on your mood. Leaning Palms is a traditional American-style restaurant with pizza, beer, hot dogs, sandwiches, and beverages. Let’s Go Slurpin’ offers specialty drinks and refreshments, with their most popular choice being their tequila-filled Miss Tilly. Finally, Happy Landings Ice Cream provides a variety of sundaes, root beer floats, cookies, and more, to have your stomach full as ever before leaving the park.
Another small area where I feel Typhoon Lagoon has the edge over Blizzard Beach is in their optional private rental areas. Rather than renting a patio out as you would in Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon takes it to a whole different level with your private shaded area on the sand with chairs and a cooler for chilled beverages. Additionally, you are flawlessly from the crowds which allow for an even more enhanced family setup.
Final Thoughts
Everyone has their preferences when comparing Disney World’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park which is located in Disney World, as do I. Since I can remember, because of the lazy river, private shacks, and Surf Pool, I have always chosen Typhoon Lagoon over Blizzard Beach, as it offers a more robust experience for my family and myself. With just the right amount of attractions, slides, food, and a well-set up private area, Typhoon Lagoon gets a YES from me any day of the week!
