Walt Disney World: Marvel in Disney Theme Parks

The Walt Disney Company acquired Marvel in 2009, allowing Disney to own popular Marvel franchises such as Marvel’s Incredible Hulk. At this point, you may be asking: what is the impact on the Orlando theme park for Marvel Disney World? Unfortunately, the Avengers and the Marvel cinematic universe is not heavily within Disney’s Florida location. The new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is the main Marvel attraction.

Marvel Attractions at Disney World

As stated previously, Marvel has very little exposure to Disney World. Aside from Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, only one attraction at Disney World is in the plans – and it is not even open yet. Disney Hollywood Studios and Epcot have a preview for the upcoming Marvel sequel. The Doctor Strange show, also on display – and there was even a meeting with the Strange team. Until then, we might have to see more actual Disneyland Marvel attractions.

Marvel Super Hero Island at Universal Studios Theme Parks Islands of Adventure

Why Isn’t Marvel Land Coming to Disney World?

While Marvel World is in Disney Land, it will not be coming to Disney World for a few different reasons. How do people find the answer? Blame it on the Mississippi River, another theme park across the street from Walt Disney World, and the agreements signed before Disney’s IPO. When Universal Studios was in the ownership of MCA at one point, the company agreed to use Marvel characters in its new themed park.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

In 2017, Guardians of the Universe: Cosmic Replay was the first Marvel attraction in the world, outside the Marvel Store in Disney Springs. The Guardians of The Galaxy Rollercoaster is situated in Future World in Epcot inside what was once Ellen’s Energy Pavilion. Fast forward to May 27th, 2022; this roller coaster is one of the most sought-after rides in Disney World. The roller coaster is an innovative and immersive ride with the infamous Marvel superhero team: the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Who are the Guardians of the Galaxy?

The Guardian is a dynamic team of space-based people whose stories combine with a diverse comic series. They’re a space-variant on a team. The Guardians were initially a small band, and the band began to fail at first. Many new fans need to recognize more of those in the original versions. Only Yondu is significant, but Sly Stallone plays Stakar. The current version of the Guardians also features Rocket Raccoon, Drax the destroyer, and Peter – Lord.

So which Marvel characters could we see at Disney in Florida?

The Marvel Comic Universe has been around for ages and has broad roots. There are many different opportunities to see Marvel characters throughout the parks, which may offer meet-and-greet options and even participate in live shows.

Meet-and-Greet Opportunities

  1. Spider-Man: You can meet and take photos with Spider-Man in Marvel Super Hero Island at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.
  2. Guardians of the Galaxy: Star-Lord and Gamora from the Guardians of the Galaxy can be found at Epcot’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Live! Show during special events.
  3. Iron Man: Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, has been known to make appearances at special events and promotional activities.
  4. Black Panther: During special events and shows, Black Panther is sometimes available at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
  5. Captain America: Captain America has been known to appear at special events and shows, particularly during patriotic holidays.
  6. Thor: Thor can sometimes be seen during special events or as part of the Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park in Disneyland Resort.

Please note that character appearances may vary and are subject to change. So, it’s always a good idea to check the park’s schedule or consult with Disney World to ensure you catch your favorite Marvel characters during your visit.

Is there any Marvel at Disney World?

Super Hero Headquarters The Super Hero headquarters is located on the West Side at Disney Springs between Star Wars Galactic Outpost and Disney’s Candy Cage across Exposition Park and Disney Springs food trucks.

Why does Disney have no Marvel rides?

The main reason is Universal Superhero Island, the only superhero country that touches Florida. Universal is the exclusive legal proprietor of any Marvel entertainment east coast, meaning the Mouse House can no longer develop a theme park for Wolverine, Ironman, or more.

Avengers Campus

Avengers Campus is a themed land in Disney California Adventure Park at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. It is a dedicated area where guests can enter the Marvel Universe and experience various attractions, entertainment, dining, and interactive experiences.

Key Highlights of Avengers Campus

  1. Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure: This interactive dark ride invites guests to join forces with Spider-Man and help him capture rogue Spider-Bots. Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!: Formerly known as The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, this thrilling drop tower ride has been reimagined with a Guardians of the Galaxy storyline.
  2. Avengers Headquarters: The iconic Avengers Headquarters serves as the focal point of the land, where guests can witness live superhero action, including appearances by various Avengers characters.
  3. Avengers Assemble: This live stunt show features Marvel superheroes showcasing their incredible abilities and teamwork in an action-packed performance.
  4. Character Interactions: Guests can meet and greet beloved Marvel characters, such as Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, and more, providing memorable photo opportunities and interactions.
  5. Pym Test Kitchen: A themed dining experience where food and drinks serve with a whimsical twist. The innovative “Pym Particles” technology allows for unique portion sizes and flavors.
  6. Avengers Campus Merchandise: Multiple merchandise locations offer various Marvel-themed apparel, accessories, toys, and collectibles for guests to take home as souvenirs.

What park is Marvel in?

Marvel Super Heroes Island is a section of the Orlando Islands of Adventures Park at Universal Orlando, themed by popular Marvel characters. Aside from Universal Studios, Avengers Campus is in Disney’s California Adventure. Marvel characters are also at Walt Disney Studios Park in Disneyland Paris. Finally, Hong Kong Disneyland is currently in the process of implementing Marvel into its theme park.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

While Marvel has been around for quite some time, Disney purchased Marvel and Marvel’s licensing rights in 2007. Because of this, it has taken some time to integrate Marvel into the Walt Disney Company. Over at Disney California Adventure, Marvel characters are frequently seen, primarily due to Avengers Campus. Fans can see many different characters like Thor, Captain America, Spider-Man, and many more from the Marvel comics universe.

However, on the other side of the country, Marvel has very little exposure in Walt Disney World, Florida. This is mainly due to the park on the other side of the Mississippi River: Universal Studios, which holds Marvel Superhero Island. Guests at Walt Disney World cannot see many Marvel characters at Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, or even Animal Kingdom. However, they have a great chance at Epcot due to the new attraction next to Galaxy’s Edge.
