New Rides With No Exact Date At Disney World
There are many rides Disney is working on to bring in 2023 and 2024, but a few ride announcements have no exact opening dates. There’s been a rumor about some rides being discontinued too.
Disney also announced the renovation of Cinderella castle in the Magic Kingdom Park. The Star Wars land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios will also have some improvements in the upcoming days.
Following are the rides with no known dates:
Parking Lot Trams
The Parking Lot Trams at Walt Disney are an essential mode of transportation that brings guests from the parking lots to the theme parks. However, since the COVID-19 pandemic, the trams have been unavailable, and guests have had to walk to the parks from the parking lots.
The trams were a means of transportation to Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios. They also transported guests to areas of Disney Springs.
Disney has stated that the trams will return at some point, but there is no exact date. The Parking Lot Trams are essential to the Walt Disney experience, and guests will eagerly anticipate their return. Until then, guests can expect long walks to and from the parking lots.
New “Play” Pavilion At Disney World Rides
Announced at the D23 Expo in 2019, the New “Play” Pavilion in Epcot is set to be a unique and exciting addition to the park. The pavilion will feature interactive exhibits, games, and attractions that allow guests to “play” and explore.
However, Disney still needs to provide an exact opening date for the pavilion. Originally scheduled to open in 2021, the pavilion has been delayed due to construction issues and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since the Play Pavilion is in EPCOT, it will surely contain modern technology to attract visitors. Disney has not talked much about the project, but the concept art of the attraction is amazing to witness.
The attraction is said to be bigger than the Star Wars franchise. Disney has not provided an updated date, but fans eagerly await the pavilion’s debut.
Another new addition to Epcot is the Wondrous China film in the China pavilion. The new film will replace the old “Reflections of China” film, featuring new technology and a new storyline. However, Disney has not provided a date for the film.
Originally set to open in 2020, the film has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Disney still needs to provide an updated date, but fans can expect a new and exciting attraction when it eventually opens.
It is rumored to be out in 2023, but no confirmation has been provided. Along with this new attraction, a complete retheme of Splash Mountain will also take place in 2023.
D23 “Blue Sky” Ideas
At the D23 Expo in 2022, Disney revealed a series of “Blue Sky” ideas, which are still in the planning stages. These ideas include new attractions, lands, and experiences for Walt Disney, but dates still need to be provided.
An idea put into practice is Walt Disney World Railroad which is now once again making loops around the Magic Kingdom.
Some of the ideas include a new Mary Poppins attraction in the UK pavilion at Epcot, a new coaster in the Magic Kingdom, and also a new Zootopia-themed land in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
These ideas are still in the early planning stages, and it may be several years before they come to fruition.
On Hold New Rides At DISNEY WORLD
Disney has some on-hold projects which may not be happening at all. None of these projects take place in Disney Springs. Most of the rides are at Hollywood Studios or attractions scheduled at Animal Kingdom.
Disney announced these projects at the D23 Expo in September 2022. No action was taken due to rides, such as Mickey And Minnie’s runaway railway, opening up in other theme parks.
Disney was focused on improving the Star Wars franchise and opening up a Star Wars hotel and also an MCU-themed land in the Magic Kingdom, including a potential land beyond Big Thunder Mountain.
The on-hold projects include the Mary Poppins area, A Lakeside lodge, and Spaceship earth enhancements.
Mary Poppins Area
One of the most exciting projects on hold is the Mary Poppins Area. It’s supposed to be a place where you can feel like you’re inside the classic movie.
Disney wanted to have the project in action by 2020, but Covid-19 rendered it impossible for Disney to proceed with the project any further.
You’d get to walk down Cherry Tree Lane and see all the magical things from the movie. But it looks like we might have to wait a while longer to experience it for ourselves.
In place of Mary Poppins, Disney opened Lightning Mcqueen’s racing academy at Sunset Blvd, which you should definitely check out if you are a fan of the Cars franchise.
Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Lodge
Another cool project on hold is Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Lodge. Building on the popularity of Disney Vacation Club, a planned 16th resort was in the works for the area between Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.
This place would be a resort where you could connect with nature and relax. River Country Water Park had now closed the land. Disney cleared the land after some time but has had no activity going on since.
Unfortunately, guests won’t get to stay there any time soon. There have been many other openings in Disney where guests can stay. Any fan of the Star Wars franchise can look up a resort in Star Wars land and is sure to find a hotel for their needs.
Spaceship Earth Enhancements Rides At Disney World
Disney also talked about the refurbishment of Spaceship earth and said to add more new features to the attraction, making it more magical than ever.
Unfortunately, Disney quietly shelved the project after the pandemic shutdown and has had no activity on it since reopening.
It is said that it will be introduced to the guests soon enough, but from the looks of it, you can tell it won’t happen in the upcoming years.
Moreover, the attraction’s concept art was mesmerizing and sure to amaze the guests. Now, fans are hoping that the attraction will become available soon.
